Very recently, a couple of designers contacted the One Room Challenge™team inquiring about another event that too closely resembles the One Room Challenge™ and therefor creates confusion. In order to avoid potential misunderstandings, the ORC team is providing information about this copycat event in hopes of minimizing possible complications or conflicts that could arise between participants and sponsors. We want to be certain that every person linking-up on Thursdays as a Guest Participant has understood the eligibility requirements. The following is one of the ORC rules that applies to both Featured Designers and Guest Participants:

You may only link up and participate with rooms dedicated solely to the ORC.

This means two things. First, a room that has been shared, is being shared, or will be shared as part of another event cannot be linked to the One Room Challenge™. Second, if you are participating in another event during any of the dates of the ORC, you may not link up to the ORC.

We understand your concern about the similarities of the two events (see below) and we agree that the situation can be misleading. We were surprised when this was brought to our attention by several design influencers and are disappointed to see it happen.

This same company used the One Room Challenge™ trademarked logo without consent last season to promote a contest that ran counter to the non-competitive spirit (see mission statement below) of the ORC. Swift action was taken against the unauthorized use of the ORC brand. Our typical experience is very different from this one. The One Room Challenge™ has worked with countless companies who have been incredibly supportive, professional, and respectful of all aspects of the ORC. We're very proud of both the community and the event we've built over the last seven years. The internet continues to reward and celebrate originality.

Hopefully, the information provided here will clarify the situation. If you've been solicited or mislead into believing you may enter both events, you"re welcome to email (Team @ oneroomchallenge.com). Please include any correspondence for our review.

The One Room Challenge™ team is looking forward to having you join us on Thursdays!

One Room Challenge™ Mission Statement

The One Room challenge™ will provide participants with a supportive, enthusiastic forum in which to share the process of transforming a room. The ORC is not a competition, but rather a celebration of creativity, inspiration, and original ideas. Welcome!
