ORC MISSION STATEMENT

The One Room challenge® will provide participants with a supportive, enthusiastic forum in which to share the process of transforming a room. The ORC is not a competition, but rather a celebration of creativity, inspiration, and original ideas. Welcome!

THE EVENT

Beginning in 2011 with the desire to finally finish ONE room in her home, Linda had the idea to motivate herself and a small group of online friends by setting up a challenge to work along side one another with the goal of having one finished room. She titled the event One Room Challenge®, as it became evident that staying focused on one room, from start to finish, was indeed a challenge. 

Over the past decade, the online DIY and interior design community has grown tremendously, especially with the rise of Instagram and TikTok. With more and more people feeling empowered to pick up the torch (or power drill) and document their own room transformations, the ORC community grew as well. For the tenth anniversary year in 2022, the ORC partnered with Apartment Therapy and moved away from featuring a small group to shining a bigger light on the amazing community with a commitment to featuring as many transformations as possible, as well as sharing sponsorship opportunities to bring brands and influencers together. The way that ORC participants not only create spectacular rooms, but also cheer each other on, is what makes the event so special.

Everyone with an online presence is invited and welcome to join in the fun by adding their weekly progress to the website each Wednesday for eight consecutive weeks. Each season, the internet and social media are flooded with interior design inspiration, original ideas, encouragement, and motivation. The One Room Challenge® event is a source for digital, print, and social media outlets scouting for features and editorial content. Additionally, the ORC has its own dedicated editorial team who showcase and report on projects, trends, and more from the event.

A constantly growing community

Linda Weinstein is the creator and owner of the widely anticipated online interior design event, the One Room Challenge®. In her role as director of the ORC, she has enthusiastically facilitated the transformation of hundreds of spaces across the interior design related online community. Partnering with dozens of companies such as eBay, Annie Selke, Hudson Valley Lighting, and Fabricut, she's provided a strategic, highly effective marketing vehicle resulting in increased brand awareness and sales. Linda collaborates with various digital editors for features and events.

After ten years of navigating the ever-changing world of brand partnerships, online collaborations, and influencer marketing, Linda has ventured from her role behind the scenes and is enjoying speaking opportunities where she can share her experiences and instruct both sides of the product equation; the influencers and companies to collaborate successfully. She has been a featured speaker at the Design Influencers Conference, Americas Mart, and ADAC. Most recently, she held a showroom presentation sharing strategies to generate greater traffic through influencer partnerships.
