HOW DOES THE ONE ROOM CHALLENGE WORK?

The One Room Challenge® is a biannual event every spring and fall. Everyone with a blog or Instagram account is welcome to join the fun as a Guest Participant by registering for the event with the room or space you plan to transform. Registration typically opens about a month prior to the event. Every Wednesday during the event, which lasts eight weeks, Guest Participants link their weekly project updates on this site, and spectators and participants can easily follow along by browsing the linkup page.

WHEN DOES THE NEXT CHALLENGE START?

Every Spring & Fall - Look for the announcement banner at the top of this site, or follow our Instagram for updates.

CAN ANYONE JOIN THE ORC?

Everyone with a blog, Instagram, or TikTok account is welcome to participate. Your room must be designed and dedicated to this event only.

MUST THE ORC BE DONE IN REAL TIME?

It is possible but not mandatory. You are free to work at your own pace as long as you finish with the group. Please do not pre-post about your room progress prior to the start date so that your ORC content remains fresh and timely.

HOW DO PEOPLE FIND ME? HOW DO I FIND THEM?

Everyone participating will link up their weekly progress on this website (link in banner). You can practice linking up in this post.

WHY CAN'T I FIND THE LINKUP?

Weekly linkups are open Wednesdays through Sundays while the event is running.

I CAN'T FIND MY WEEKLY POST ON THE WEBSITE

Make sure you are looking in the correct section (Blog/Instagram/TikTok).

You must add your post, each week, to the website - it doesn't populate from your page.
Links in the wrong section (Instagram post in Blog section or vice versa) are deleted without notice.
Your post link may have been deleted because it was not in compliance with ORC rules.

DO I HAVE TO LINK UP EVERY WEEK?

Linking up is not mandatory. If you don't have any updates to share, you're welcome to skip a week.

CAN I CHANGE THE ROOM I REGISTERED?

We understand things change. You're welcome to start with a different room than the one you registered. After the event has started you may not change rooms.

I MISSED THE FIRST WEEK, CAN I STILL PARTICIPATE?

Yes. Guest Participants can join in on Week 2. The event will still have the same end date.

WHEN DOES REGISTRATION CLOSE?

Registration closes at the end of the second week.

WHAT IS THE LINK I'M REQUIRED TO PLACE IN MY BLOG POST?

Your post MUST have a link back the ORC Weekly Progress page (www.oneroomchallenge.com/orc-blog) so that readers can easily navigate through the other rooms.

WHAT IS THE LINK I'M REQUIRED TO USE AS AN INSTAGRAM ONLY PARTICIPANT?

Instagram guests must include a link in your story to oneroomchallenge.com, or a link in your IG profile (for 48 hours) so viewers can easily navigate through the other rooms.

WHERE CAN I FIND THE GUEST PARTICIPANT LOGO?

ORC logos are here. Blogs - place the logo in each weekly blog post with a link back to this site. Instagram Only Participants - You must use the ORC Guest Participant logo in your story, or on one of your images.

IF I'M PARTICIPATING WITH A BLOG, CAN I STILL POST ON MY SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS?

Yes. You are welcome to post as often as you like on all of your platforms. You can link up once with a blog link and once with an instagram link, but PLEASE make sure to put your links in the correct sections. Links in the incorrect section will be deleted.

CAN I ALTERNATE WITH MY BLOG AND INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT?

Yes, you're welcome to link up with one or the other throughout the 8 weeks.

CAN I PARTICIPATE WITH A VIRTUAL ROOM?

No. All participants must be transforming a real space.
