B&A: Gorgeous Home Office Flex Space Surprise

BEFORE & AFTER

ORC vet Samantha of Signed Samantha embarked on another room transformation this past fall ‘23 event, this time creating her home office 2.0. You may remember her gorgeous green home office from the fall ‘21 event—with a second child on the way, the need for a dedicated nursery meant saying goodbye to home office 1.0.

So, Samantha set about transforming the spare bedroom into a versatile space that would serve as both a home office and a guest room. This room had previously functioned as a spare bedroom, utilized by visitors for only about 10% of the year, and occasionally served as her husband McGregor's home office.

The pièce de résistance and surprise of the room is a sneaky Murphy Bed cleverly concealed behind the desk. The finished space seamlessly transitions between a home office and a guest room.

Above you can see the secret murphy bed in progress. As Samantha and her family are all tall, she had the extra challenge of finding and then concealing a king sized murphy bed.

She added a false front with molding to the bottom of the murphy bed, and framed it with some lovely shelves to make it a complete built-in wall. The larger shelf space on either side of the bed work as nightstands when the bed is down.

And, here’s the murphy bed all made up! It looks unbelievably cozy and luxurious.

It’s quite a feat to both conceal a king sized murphy be AND make it look incredible in both bed mode and office mode. The extra work of seamlessly concealing the bed definitely paid off. The green paint color paired with all the wood and linen accents is so stunning as well. Congrats to Samantha!
