Why You Should Use Wood Accents In Every Space

An Ode To Natural Wood

I’m a strong believer in having at least a bit of natural wood in every room.

No matter your aesthetic, natural wood makes spaces feel more collected, lived-in, and inviting. Even just a few small wood accents can bring a space to life with warm tones and beautiful, organic grain. It can bring warmth and character into a minimalist space, or it can bring a bit of neutrality into a maximalist space. Plus, between the incredible variety in kinds of wood and the finishes you can choose, there is no limit to its versatility.

Below are ORC projects that show how natural wood can elevate every space.

In a highly contemporary, sleek space, a beautiful piece of wooden furniture like this storage piece can bring in something warm and organic while still matching the modern aesthetic.

This burled wood coffee table, as well as the very traditional wooden chairs behind it, help to balance the playful, saturated blue paint on the bookshelves by bringing a more serious vibe into the space.

A wood butcher block countertop pairs perfectly with white kitchen cabinets, and the shiplap walls are really the cherry on top. This kitchen feels so charming and full of character.

Keeping the original stained wood doors and molding in an older house, or even taking the time to restore them, can pay off in a big way. This space feels rich and timeless.

Here’s another space with the original wood crown molding and window casings left unpainted. It really heightens the cozy, cabin-y vibe of the space.

The wood elements in this kitchen, like the stools and countertop, balance beautifully with all the white, keeping the space bright and airy without feeling sterile.

In this modern maximalist bedroom, the wooden floating shelves bring in a hint of something neutral and organic to balance with the glam factor.

The barstools and cutting board bring the perfect amount of wood tones into this bright kitchen. Sometimes just a small amount is all that’s necessary to create a natural contrast.

In such a subtle, minimalist space, light toned wood can bring in the right amount of texture and warmth without killing the neutral vibe.
