As we wrap up the year, it's time to give credit where credit's due—the unsung heroes of our DIY endeavors. These six tools and supplies played a starring role in turning ideas into tangible creations, and dominated our projects this past year.

DEWALT 20V Cordless 1/2 in. Drill/Driver

From putting drainage holes in ceramic pots to building cabinets from scratch, the power drill has been through it all with us this year. We love the DeWalt for how compact and lightweight but extremely hardy it is.

BOSCH 91-Piece Drilling and Driving Set with Case

Having a nice, versatile set of drill bits means you’re ready to tackle anything with what you have on hand. This Bosch set always has what we need.

3M P100 Household Respirator

Rarely do we work on a project without some kind of mask, and the 3M reusable respirator with 60921 is Team ORC’s go to because it’s durable and protects against pretty much every typical DIY hazard you could run into, like sawdust, paint fumes, and even mold.

RIGID 12 Gallon Wet/Dry Shop Vacuum with Filter Accessories

Our previous verdict still stands—none of us at Team ORC could live without our shop vacs.

Leatherman Wave+ 18-in-1 Multi-tool

A Leatherman multi-tool is a buy it for life investment that’s completely worth it. We reach for this thing constantly.

Empire 7 in. Laser Etched Aluminum Rafter Square

They don’t call these speed squares for nothing. Having one of these handy makes it SO easy to double check measurements and angles.
